Power Engineering – Project of the Year Award FPL's Martin Solar Energy Center Each year Power Engineering awards the Project of the Year title in three categories: Best Coal-Fired Project, Best Gas-Fired Project, and Best Renewable Energy Project. The projects are judged by a panel of editors from Power Engineering based on innovation, environmental impact, and benefits to the local community.
For 2012, FPL's Martin Solar Energy Center (MSEC) Project was selected as the project of the year in the category of renewable energy. Lauren Engineers & Constructors was the EPC contractor on this project, which reached commercial operation in December 2010. To win this award the MSEC Project was selected out of seven entries in the renewable category. Out of those seven, five, including the Martin project, were solar developments. Two of the projects were from outside of the U.S. (Germany and Canada). |
