CNRL Froth Project Achieves Safety Milestone
On May 4, 2008 The Canadian Froth Treat men Project - part of the CNRL Horizon Project - achieved one million safe work hours without a lost time incident. Achieving this milestone combined efforts of more than 500 personnel across several disciplines, including civil, mechanical, piping, instrumentation and electrical. This achievement reflects the site management team's initiative to provide a well-planned, safe environment for the workforce. This safe environment was developed by a management philosophy which cares about the welfare of all employees. This philosophy involved not only employee safety orientation but site and task-specific safety training. Proper tools and personal protective equipment were supplied to the employees, and task reviews were conducted at all levels, applying their input to daily safety planning. This approach created a collaborative safety approach where each worker looked out for himself as well as his fellow worker.
Charlie Hay, VP of Construction for Lauren ULC, speaks to this point: "Safety is top priority in all aspects of our business and we are grateful for the full support we receive from CNRL. We are near the end of our contract in phase 1 and Lauren has certainly lived up to the philosophy of 'No harm to people, no harm to the environment."
Congratulations are extended to the entire Project Team in this major safety achievement.
