Nevada Solar One has selected Lauren Engineers & Constructors
as the EPC contractor to build a 64 MW power generating facility
in Boulder City, Nevada - the largest-capacity solar thermal plant
to be built in the last 15 years and the third-largest in the world.
The project will use the latest in alternative fuel technology from
Solargenix Energy, Inc. Upon project completion, the plant will
consist of a Power Block area and a 400-acre field of mirror arrays
that will focus the heat of the desert sun into a heat transfer
fluid system. Groundbreaking for the project was on February 11,
2006 and Lauren mobilized a construction team two days later. Through
May 24th, 90,497 man-hours were expended by direct hire and subcontract
personnel. Fabrication of the solar field metals continues with
start-up of the solar field pipe supports. Estimated completion
date is the second quarter of 2007.
