October 20, 2004, Abilene, TX - Lauren Engineers & Constructors has recently been awarded a contract by Wellman, Inc, of Charlotte, NC, for the expansion of Wellman’s Pearl River Plant, located in Port Bienville Industrial Park, Bay St. Louis, MS. Don Dronfield of Lauren comments on the history of this project: “Lauren and Wellman have worked together for approximately a year to complete the front end engineering package and to define the scope of this L1/P3 PET Resin expansion project at Wellman’s Pearl River Plant. Through this phase of the project, the team effort of the Lauren and Wellman personnel, using value added engineering methods, significantly reduced the front-end costs associated with the project. This effort resulted in a more financially attractive project.”

Wellman approved this project in the third quarter of 2004, subsequently awarding Lauren a full services contract for the engineering, procurement, and construction services. Having completed seven of the past eight solid-stating facilities in the US over the last decade, Lauren is uniquely positioned for the successful execution of this project. Pete Woody, Plant Manager for Wellman’s Pearl River Plant, comments: "This is a very important expansion project for Wellman. We chose Lauren as the EPC contractor because of their experience and their capabilities." Lauren and Wellman are committed to the success of this project, which is scheduled for completion in January 2006.
